Ruffin to preach initial sermon at Faith Temple

Bishop Dr. Obadiah Colander and the congregation of Faith Temple Ministries (Apostolic), 476 Wellons St., are presenting the initial sermon of Steward Troy J. Ruffin Sr., as he answers the call into the ministry at 6 p.m. Sunday.
Ruffin has been a member of Faith Temple for more than 15 years. Ruffin serves as master of ceremony for morning services and is in stewardship, working closely in church affairs with the pastor.
In 1996, Ruffin became the youth leader at Faith Temple, from which the Children Church Ministry was born. Ruffin has held the position of Steward for approximately three years. He also sings with Faith Temple’s Male Choir.
Ruffin is the son of Gloria (Ruffin) Riddick, the late James McKinley Claud, and Deacon John Riddick.
Born in 1971, Ruffin is a 1990 graduate and four-year captain of the basketball team at the former John F. Kennedy High School, in Suffolk. Ruffin has been employed by Hills Brothers Coffee Plant, now known as Sara Lee and Tea, since 1991. He is the lead warehouse coordinator.
Ruffin became the husband to Karen Gilchrist-Ruffin on August 6, 1994. From this union they have three boys: Troy J. Jr., McKinley and Jalen Ruffin.
