Downtown bank robbed Thursday

Police are searching for the man who robbed the Bank of America in downtown Suffolk Thursday morning.

The robbery happened around 11:05 a.m., when he went into the bank and handed the teller a note demanding money, said Lt. Debbie George, spokeswoman for the Suffolk Police Department. He did not display a weapon, she said.

The suspect escaped on foot with an undisclosed amount of money, George said.

No one was hurt during the incident, she added.

The suspect was in his early 20s, approximately 5 feet 6 inches tall and between 150 and 160 pounds with a thin build. He was wearing a dark jacket, dark pants and a beanie hat.

Police are asking that anyone with information to call the Suffolk Crime Line at 1-888-Lock-U-Up.
