A Suffolk woman who was stabbed and dragged about 15 yards by a vehicle over the weekend has been released from Sentara Norfolk General Hospital.

Sonia Nicholson, 38, of the 100 block of Church Street was rushed to the Norfolk hospital after the incident triggered by an argument with her cousin, Angela M. Knight, 27, of the 200 block of Pine Street, said Suffolk Police Department spokeswoman Lt. Debbie J. George.

According to police, Knight stabbed Nicholson in the chest during a disagreement outside a home near the intersection of Wellons and Wilson streets around 4:10 a.m. Saturday.

Witnesses reported that Knight grabbed Nicholson by the hair, pulled her head through the open window of the Jeep Cherokee and began driving the vehicle, said George.

Knight dragged Nicholson about 15 yards on Wilson before dropping her on the ground, she added.

Nicholson is continuing to recover at a family member’s home.

Knight has been charged with felony malicious wounding, George said. She is being held without bond in Western Tidewater Regional Jail.
