Mary Jones Johnson, daughter of the late Annias and Mollie Bradshaw Jones, was born on April 29, 1915 in Southampton County.
God turned the sunrise into sunset for Mary during the late night on June 2, 2005 at 11:47 p.m., when she expired from her earthly home. She was predeceased by her husband, William Johnson, sisters, Etta Warren and Lovie Dempsee and a brother, Herman Scott.
She was a member if St. Matthew Church of God in Christ and loved her church family. She remained faithful until her illness prevailed.
We will greatly miss her friendly smile and wit, but we bow submissively to the will of our heavenly father, who doeth all things well.
Mary leaves to cherish her memories three sons, Ernest Riddick (Mary), Calvin Johnson and Andrew Johnson; two daughters, Helen Riddick and Mollie Riddick; daughters-in-law, Rosetta Riddick; 13 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; 15 great-great grandchildren; three step-grandchildren; three nephews, three cousins and many other relatives and friends.
A viewing will be held from noon to 7 p.m. Wednesday, June 8, with a wake service lasting from 6 to 7 p.m. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. on Thursday, June 9 at St. Mathew Church of God In Christ, 750 Dutch Road, Holland. Interment will be in Holly Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk.
