Hopkins wins Ruritan Nursing Scholarship at PDCCC

Kristi Hopkins of Suffolk was selected from many excellent scholarship applicants to receive the One-Time Summer Semester Suffolk Ruritan Nursing Scholarship at Paul D. Camp Community College.

&uot;I applied for the scholarship because I am passionate about nursing and helping people. Plus, I need all the help I can get to pay for my classes,&uot; said Hopkins, mother of a three year old.

Hopkins, a 1999 graduate of Nansemond River High School and single parent, has excelled in her classes. Her high grade point average qualified her to be to be tapped into the Phi Theta Kappa Honor Society at Paul D. Camp. In addition, she works part-time at the Elizabeth Manor Golf and County Club and is a member of the Franklin Relay for Live Team &uot;The Nightingale Racers.&uot;

Thanks to the support of her family, Hopkins will complete the RN program in May 2006. She plans to specialize in anesthesia.
