Obici holds nursing cap ceremony

Obici Hospital’s School of Practical Nursing, sponsored in conjunction with Suffolk Public Schools, presented 14 women with their nursing caps in a ceremony at the hospital June 14. The school’s nursing director, Gwen Sweat,

placed the caps on each student, signifying their next step towards becoming a nurse.

That next step will entail clinicals, offering the students hands-on experience in a hospital setting. The students will graduate from the program in February 2006.

Each nurse recited &uot;The Practical Nurse’s Pledge,&uot; promising to cooperate loyally with other members of the nursing team and to raise the standards and prestige of the practical nursing profession.
