Farm Fresh makeover worth a visit, June 21, 2005

I dig what Farm Fresh has done to their store on N. Main Street.

We published the story last week of the Starbucks caf\u00E9 opening in Farm Fresh. Monday evening after work I stopped by to pick up a few things. I've always liked Farm Fresh because it offers items other area grocery stores do not n imported obscure brands and health food items, primarily. I highly recommend almond butter in place of peanut butter, for instance.

While that stuff can break you up quickly, it's nice to know that it's there when you need it.

I didn't get anything from the Starbucks (I'm just

morally opposed to paying 4 bucks for a cup of coffee), but while perusing the expanded health food section n now both sides of an entire aisle, including its own freezer case n I was approached by two young ladies with trays of samples.

They had pound cake and tiny cups of something called a "vanilla bean frappaccino." I skipped the pound cake but had a bit of sweet tooth and since nobody was looking, I took one of the frappaccino's n that's one of those drinks you really have to be secure in your masculinity to partake of and could get you a beaten up if you're not careful.

It was delicious, like drinking a vanilla milkshake. While the name's a little too gay to actually go in order n it was difficult enough typing it, I could never say it out loud — I may send my wife in some time to get me one.

Farm Fresh periodically gives its store's a makeover and I hope the current incarnation lasts a while. Seriously, you should pay a visit. While you may pay a little more than you would at a supercenter, the pleasant experience and variety makes it worth it.
