Annie Virginia Knight Cross

Annie Virginia Knight Cross, 68, of 324 Little Fork Road, in the Whaleyville section of the city, died at Obici Hospital on Saturday, July 2, 2005.

A native of Gates County, she was the daughter of the late George Thomas &uot;Pete&uot; Knight and Lucy Emma Riddick Knight and was the widow of Frank Linwood Cross.

She is survived by two daughters, Frances Chamblee (Wilbert) of Sunbury, N.C., and Minister Deloyce White (Bishop David L. White) of Elizabeth City, N.C.; two sons, Frank Cross (Peggy) of Suffolk and James Cross (Vernice) of Gates, N.C.; a goddaughter, Vanity Butler of Gates; a sister, Rosa Batts (Herman) of Gates; two brothers, Charlie Knight (Jan) of Gates and James Knight of Virginia; nine grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.

The funeral service will be held at new Piney Wood Chapel Baptist Church, Drum Hill, N.C., at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 5. The Rev. Richard Curry will officiate. Burial will follow in Carver Memorial Cemetery.

The family will receive friends at 324 Little Fork Road.
