Fireworks over fireworks viewing

It is outrageous that the taxpayers of this city should foot the bill for the council’s private viewing of the Fourth of July celebration at Constant’s Wharf.
However, I was happy to note that we are not expected to pay the liquor bill, should there be one. Perhaps they will also have a designated driver for this event?
I’m left to wonder if this will become an annual event for this elite group. Are they not being paid enough to fund their own private viewings? I suppose they will do the same at New Year’s Eve and other Holidays they deem appropriate.

I discovered the following story in the local paper and it truly disturbs me. City officials have every right to hold their own private party, but not at the expense of the taxpayers, all events such as this should be paid for by the participants. I didn’t find an invitation in my mailbox for the event, what benefit am I getting for my tax dollar, can anyone tell me?
