Staff Report
Are you a born leader?
Leadership Hampton Roads (LHR) is inviting established and emerging leaders to apply to participate in the class of 2006.
This innovative program challenges participants to learn more about themselves, expand their professional and social network, refine their leadership skills, develop a better understanding of how the region works and examine the issues that will impact Hampton Roads’ future.
Individuals who represent the
diversity of the region, and
demonstrate a commitment, motivation and interest in serving the region are encouraged to apply.
As the region’s oldest and largest leadership initiative, LHR has served as a major catalyst for regional dialogue and action over the past 18 years.
Recognized in 2004 as one of the country’s finest leadership development programs, LHR offers a unique and dynamic opportunity to serve the region with increased effectiveness.
Today more than 800 graduates (The LHR 800) actively provide bold leadership to more than 600 regional businesses, non-profit organizations and governmental agencies across the 17 communities that comprise the greater Hampton Roads area.
From September through May, the LHR program provides participants the experiences and connections that prepare them to assume senior leadership positions in the communities.
The nine-month program begins with a two-day retreat focusing on progressive leadership practices and group dynamics.
Monthly daylong involvement sessions follow, extending opportunities to experience the region at work behind the scenes and explore innovative solutions to pressing issues with key decision-makers.
Founded in 1988 by local business leaders through the Hampton Roads Chamber Foundation, LHR is a self-supporting 501-C3 organization.
An application can be downloaded from the website, www.experiencelhr.com, or for more information contact Angela Blackwell at 664-2528. The application should be submitted by
