A 13-year-old Suffolk boy is recovering from injuries received when his motorized mini-motorcycle struck a car in south Suffolk over the weekend.
Dominique Sawyer of the 100 block of Morgan Street was airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital after the accident at the intersection of Truman and South 6th streets around 5:15 p.m. Saturday, said Lt. Debbie George, spokeswoman for the Suffolk Police Department. He was suffering from head, arm and leg injuries.
The youngster, who was traveling north on South 6th Street, stopped for the stop sign at Truman Road, said George. He then pulled out into the path of a 1996 Oldsmobile being operated by Shariqua Blanks, 19, of Truman Road.

Charges are pending against Sawyer for failure to yield the right of way, operating a moped on the roadway under 16 years of age, and violation of a city ordinance requiring a helmet and safety equipment, George said.
Blanks is not expected to face charges.
