A roofer who fell nearly 12 feet onto a concrete driveway was airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital on Monday afternoon.

James King, 41, of Buckhorn Drive, an employee of J & S Masonry, fell from a roof in the 700 block of Jones Street around 3:28 p.m., said Lt. Debbie J. George, spokeswoman for the Suffolk Police Department.

Neither details surrounding his fall nor the extent of his injuries was available at press time.

But a detective is investigating the incident, which is standard during serious industrial accidents, George said.
