A Suffolk woman was airlifted to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital early Wednesday after a single-vehicle accident on Turlington Road.

Linda Dasher Coristin, 49, of the 600 block of Turlington Road veered off the right side of the road, striking a tree and utility pole around 1:35 a.m. Wednesday, said Lt. Debbie George, spokeswoman for the Suffolk Police Department. The force of the impact broke the car into two pieces.

Coristin landed in the road after being thrown more than 100 feet from her car, said George.
