God has turned the sunset for Nicole Michelle Britt into a sunrise. She had a safe crossing from earth into eternity. During the late morning of Friday, July 22, 2005 at 10:45 a.m., she expired from her earthly home.

She was born Sept. 29, 1976 in Suffolk. She was the daughter of Tola Mae Britt and Randolph Edwards.

Nicole was a 1996 graduate of Lakeland High School and a member of Olive Branch Baptist Church. She was loved by her church family and remained faithful until her illness prevailed.

While we will greatly miss her friendly smile and wit, we bow submissively to the will of our Heavenly Father, who doeth all things well.

She was predeceased by her grandfather, George Britt and Vurnes Edwards, her son Brendan Britt; uncles, Jose Skeeter and Reginald Edwards and her godfather, Curtis Parker.

She leaves to cherish her memory: her son, Quidreaun Britt; mother, Iola Britt; father, Randolph Edwards; goddaughter, Nazia Grant; grandmothers, Ellen Britt and Elizabeth Edwards; special sisters, Shaleta Norfleet (Na'kia), Latanya Brinkley and Tyneki Vick; brother, Corey Davis; aunts, Belinda Skeeter, Gloria Brinkley (James), Ellen Johnson (Henry) and Gladys Edwards

Viewing will be today, noon until 8 p.m. at T.E. Cooke-Overton Funeral Home. The family will greet friends and family at 925 Brock Ave #172, Suffolk.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 27 at Olive Branch Baptist Church, 5200 Milners Road, Suffolk. Interment will be at Holy Lawn Cemetery, Suffolk.

Alma K. Howell

Alma Kirkpatrick Howell, 82, of Suffolk, died July 25, 2005.

Born Sept. 18, 1922, she was the daughter of the late Lenora Rogers and John Kirkpatrick and widow of Felton H. Howell. Mrs. Howell was a member of Magnolia United Methodist Church and the American Dietetic Association. Mrs. Howell worked for 38 years at Obici Hospital and before that at Lakeview Hospital.

Survivors include her daughters, Kay Shelton and husband Michael of Suffolk, Jane Howell and husband Tony Bowler of Hagerman, Idaho; son, William F. Howell of Suffolk; sisters, Lorena Hilbert of Richmond, Virginia Morris of Fluvanna Couty; 12 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Magnolia United Methodist Church by Rev. Mike Derflinger. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. R. W. Baker & Co. Funeral Home & Crematory will be assisting the family. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Magnolia United Methodist Church Building Fund, 1764 Wilroy Rd., Suffolk, VA 23434.
