Fish Fry at Gates of Heaven

A Fish Fry will take place at 11 a.m. Saturday in the parking lot of the Gates of Heaven COGIC on Beech Street. The meal will include potato salad, string beans, a roll and cake. Meals are $5. There will also be a yard sale on the premises. Call 334-4456 for more information. There

Family and Friends Day at Shiloh Baptist

Shiloh Baptist Church, 9000 Fire Tower Road, Windsor, will host Family and Friends Day at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. The Rev. Johnny Cooke and the Morning Star Baptist Church family are the special guests. The theme is &uot;Blessed Families.&uot; A picnic-style dinner will be served. The host pastor is the Rev. James T. Elam.

Yock Sale at St. Paul RZUA

From 10 a.m. until on Aug. 5, the mass choir of St. Paul RZUA will hold a Yock Sale. Orders are being accepted now. For more information, call 539-9599, 934-2935, 986-2838.

Also from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Aug. 6, the men of St. Paul will sell three-piece chicken and fish plates. The price is $7. Dinners must be paid for in advance. Nixon’s Catering of Edenton, N.C. will provide the food. The church is located at 619 Spruce St.

Vacation Bible School at First Pentecostal Church

Oxford clothes closet available

As part of Oxford United Methodist’s church’s mission work in the city of Suffolk, the congregation is operating a clothes closet. The program has been running since June 30. Operation hours are from 9 a.m. to noon every Thursday. Hours will expand as the need grows and the closet becomes mores established. To assist, call 434-1405.

Church shopping trip

Tabernacle Christian Church is sponsoring a shopping trip to an outlet mall in Rehoboth Beach, Del., next month. The bus will leave from the church at 6 a.m. Aug. 27 and return by midnight. Cost is $40 per person. A $20 deposit is required to reserve a seat and the balance must be paid by Aug. 7. Vacation Bible School at Bethlehem Christian

Time change at Mt. Ararat

For the months of July and August, Mount Ararat Christian Church will have Sunday School from 8:30 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. and worship service will begin at 10 a.m.
