Katherine &uot;Kitty&uot; E. Buckhannon, 73, of the 500 block of McLean Street, passed away on Friday, July 29, 2005, at a local hospital. She was born in Southampton County on July 25, 1932, and was a long time resident of Portsmouth. She was predeceased by her parents, Emmitt E. Green and Getty Coggsdale Green, and a daughter Linda Sue Moegenberg; and a brother, E.C. Green. She was a wife, and a homemaker, as well as being previously employed by Opportunities for the Blind at the Norfolk Naval Shipyard, and Starband Inc. of Portsmouth.

She is survived by her husband, Roger &uot;Buck&uot; Buckhannon; a daughter, Barbara Ann Horne and Richard of Sunbury, N.C.; two sons, Bruce Moegenberg and wife, Cynthia of Suffolk, and Frederick Moegenberg and wife, Lana of Alabama; and a brother, Richard Green of Florida; eight grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 3, 2005 in Sturtevant Funeral Home, Portsmouth Boulevard Chapel. The Rev. Alan Barajikian will officiate.

Burial will immediately follow the service at Olive Branch Cemetery. The family received friends at the funeral home Tuesday evening from 6:30 to 8 p.m.
