Camacho hopes to move up

Last season, Augie Camacho’s golf game picked the worst possible time to go south for a day.

&uot;I played terrible at district competition,&uot; said the Lakeland junior, who missed a chance to head to Eastern Regionals by two shots (the top three teams qualify, as do the top five individual finishers from outside those teams). &uot;But I’ve forgotten about that. I’m a whole new golfer. My swing had gotten flat, and I was hitting a lot of hooks. I’ve adjusted it.&uot;

Camacho, who had the lowest team average last year, will attempt to make it to regional competition this year, and his teammate Nick Howell will try to get there for the second time. Ryan West, Charles Surry and Nolan Robertson, all of whom finished among the top six last year, will be coming back, and rookies Binford Hunter, Matt Greene and Josh Winslow will look to break into the top spots.
