Sen. Russ Potts, the independent candidate in the gubernatorial race, will not be in town this weekend as planned.

Despite the scheduling snafu, the meet-and-greet, scheduled for 3 p.m. Sunday at Crittenden/Eclipse/Hobson Ruritan Hall, 8881 Eclipse Drive, is still a go, according to Potts’ campaign headquarters.

Although Potts, a Republican lawmaker and sports promoter from Winchester, is unable to make the event, Chuck Zicari, his campaign manager, will appear on his behalf.

&uot;I’m looking forward to meeting with local supporters,&uot; Zicari said.

Potts, who has been on the road campaigning daily for most of the last two weeks, will spend the day with family celebrating his grandson’s first birthday.
