KFHS Band Boosters selling

fried chicken lunch and dinners

King’s Fork High School Band Boosters are sponsoring a Fried Chicken lunch and dinner on Friday, Aug. 19.

Lunch will be served from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.; and dinner will be served from 4:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the high school.

Tickets are $7 per plate.

The menu includes fried chicken, green beans, new potatoes and hush puppies.

Senior aerobics is offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 10 to 11 a.m. at the Suffolk Senior Center, 350 N. Main St. Betty Cartwright instructs this class, which is free to seniors 55 and over. For more information call the Senior Center at 923-2372.

Thunder Creek Band in Wakefield

The Wakefield Foundation is holding a country/bluegrass music show featuring Thunder Creek Band on Saturday, August 27 at 7:30 p.m.

The Wakefield Foundation is located at 100 Wilson Avenue in Wakefield.

Tickets are $6 in advance and $8 on the day of the show; ages five and under are free.

Proceeds will benefit the Elevator Fund.

W.I.S.E. Women Community Development Corporation presents GOSPELROBICS 2005.

Please come join us as we lift up the name of Jesus through exercise!

Sessions on nutrition, weight management, and exercise will be offered, along with lots of fun!

All sessions will be led by certified dieticians and aerobic instructors.

All exercise will be done to Gospel music with the use of tambourines, sticks, bells, shakers, and more.

Feline storytelling at Riddick’s Folly

On Saturday, August 20, Riddick’s Folly will host two storytelling sessions for children.

The session for ages three to five starts at 10 a.m. Ages five to eight are invited for the second session beginning at noon.

Storyteller Auntie Ru will be presenting stories about cats.

Suffolk Museum Trip

On August 18th (Thursday) the Suffolk Museum will take a day trip to the Hermitage Foundation Museum in Norfolk. The bus will leave the Suffolk Museum at 9:15 am and return at around 4:00 pm. Registration ends August 11th. There is a fee of $12.50. Participants will receive a guided tour of the 15 galleries of the Sloane family art collection, furniture and history.
