First Baptist concert

Healing Chapel Baptist Church at 2375 Godwin Blvd., is having its annual revival Aug. 22-26. The Homecoming service will be Sunday, August 21 at 3 p.m., followed by the annual homecoming dinner. Guest minister will be the Rev. C. V.
Russell III and the congregation of St. Paul Baptist Church.

Lakeview Missionary Baptist Church, 635 Brook Ave., Suffolk, will hold Vacation Bible School from Monday, Aug. 15-19, 6 to 8 p.m.
At 4 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, the church will celebration its annual Homecoming with a special service and dinner following. The Rev. Joe B. Fleming and the Third Baptist Church of Portsmouth are the guests. Beginning Monday, Aug. 22-26, Rev. Fleming will preach each night during a Fall Revival at Lakeview Missionary. Services start at 7:30 p.m. each night. Choirs from throughout Hampton Roads will sing each night.
From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, the men of Lakeview will sponsor a Fish Fry for Men’s Day. A $6 donation is requested. Trustee William H. Goodman is the chairman. The Rev. Dr. John E. Jones is the host pastor.

Youth Explosion Week begins Wednesday, Aug. 17-21. A Youth Revival will be held Aug. 17-19. Speakers include:

Tickets are $15 for children under 12 and $35 for children over 12 and adults. All funds are due by Aug. 7. Minister Akeem Walker will be the guest messenger.
The church’s annual Youth Day takes place at 11 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 21. Minister Leon Boone III of Celestial Baptist Church of Portsmouth will be the guest messenger.

Church of Deliverance convocation planned
Church of Deliverance 21st Century is holding its annual fellowship convocation Aug. 15-21, with services beginning at 7:30 p.m. nightly. Monday will be devoted to music, with performers including Pastor Talley Wood of Norfolk, The Just Singer of Suffolk and Men of Standard Mine. Guest speakers for the rest of the week include Tuesday, Bishop W.P. Ebenezer hosts women’s event
Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 1589 Steeple Drive, is hosting a women’s seminar, &uot;Trusting God in the Midst of Your Circumstances,&uot; from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 1. Faith of Deliverance’s youth trip
The Youth Department of Faith of Deliverance is sponsoring a trip to Six Flags in Baltimore, Md., on Sept. 10. Cost is $65 person, which includes tickets, bus fare and a meal voucher. The bus will leave Wal-Mart in Suffolk at 7 a.m. A non-refundable deposit of $35 is due by Aug. 20; the remainder is due by Sept. 3. Children under 15 must be accompanied by an adult. Main Street to honor youth leader
Main Street Methodist Church is honoring Karen Gunter, who is retiring as youth coordinator, with a pizza party at 5 p.m. Aug. 28 in the church fellowship hall. Cost is $2 for pizza. In the Valley Ministries presents its annual Family and Friends Day and annual Church Picnic on Sunday, Aug. 28. Morning worship services will begin at 11 a. m.

Oxford clothes closet available
As part of Oxford United Methodist’s church’s mission work in the city of Suffolk, the congregation is operating a clothes closet. The program has been running since June 30. Operation hours are from 9 a.m. to noon every Thursday. Hours will expand as the need grows and the closet becomes mores established.
Oxford is partnering with other local churches to meet the growing need in Suffolk. Residents are asked to assist in the following areas: prayer, volunteering, and donations (pick-up is available). To assist, call 434-1405.
