Sweet Beulah musical

Canaan Baptist concert

The mass choir of Canaan Baptist Church, 2064 Nansemond Parkway, is holding a mini-concert for the benefit of Brandon Shawn Barnes, who needs a kidney transplant, at 6 p.m. Aug. 27.

Canaan Baptist is also holding its revival from Aug. 28 to Sept. 1. Events begin with a Homecoming fellowship dinner at 1:30 p.m. Aug. 28, followed by a service at 3:30 p.m. Guests will be Dr. Marcus Brown and the congregation of New First Baptist-Taylorsville.

Macedonia AME’s anniversary

Macedonia African Methodist Episcopal Church, 127 Pine St, is celebrating with a revival this week. its 135th anniversary with a homecoming service and revival. The Rev. Steven A. Annual Healing revival Aug. 22-26

Services, programs at Lakeview Missionary Church

Lakeview Missionary Baptist Church, 635 Brook Ave., Suffolk, will celebrate its annual homecoming

with a revival Aug. 22-26.

The Rev. Joe B. Fleming, pastor of Third Baptist Church of Portsmouth, will preach at 7:30 p.m. each night. Choirs from throughout Hampton Roads will sing each night.

Ebenezer hosts women’s event

Ebenezer United Methodist Church, 1589 Steeple Drive, is hosting a women’s seminar, &uot;Trusting God in the Midst of Your Circumstances,&uot; from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Oct. 1. In the Valley Ministries presents its annual Family and Friends Day and annual Church Picnic on Sunday, Aug. 28. Morning worship services will begin at 11 a. m.

Free food, clothing at Capernaum

Capernaum Seventh Day Adventist, 314 York St., as a Community Service Capernaum will prepare a free dinner every Wednesday night beginning from 4:30 to 6 p.m. On Friday’s, there will be fresh fruit, vegetables and canned goods. Clothes are available on Sundays. Call 934-9814 for more information.

Oxford clothes closet available

As part of Oxford United Methodist’s church’s mission work in the city of Suffolk, the congregation is operating a clothes closet. The program has been running since June 30. Operation hours are from 9 a.m. to noon every Thursday. Hours will expand as the need grows and the closet becomes mores established.

Oxford is partnering with other local churches to meet the growing need in Suffolk. Residents are asked to assist in the following areas: prayer, volunteering, and donations (pick-up is available). To assist, call 434-1405.
