Bettie Hollimon

On Sunday, Aug. 28, 2005, Bettie Jean Brinkley Hollimon was called home to be with the Lord.

Bettie was a faithful member of Piney Grove Baptist Church where she served as President of the Missionary Ministry.

Bettie was the oldest of seven children born to the late Pearl and Josephine Thomas Brinkley. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Ms. Joyce Ann Brinkley; a brother, Mr. Jessie Brinkley and a brother-in-law, Mr. Roland R. Franklin.

She leaves to cherish loving memories her husband, Mr. Lilton T. Hollimon; a daughter, Ms. Michelle E. Hollimon; a grandson, Kumari Sugars; two sisters, Vonita Haskins (Steve) and Mrs. Yvonne Franklin; two brothers, Ms. Kent Brinkley and Mr. Anthony Brinkley, all of Suffolk; her mother-in-law, Mrs. Vergie Hollimon of Suffolk; two sisters-in-law, Ms. Jane Curley of Washington, D.C. and Ms. Joyce Hollimon of Forestville, Md.; a brother-in-law, Mr. Henry Hollimon Jr. (Gracie) of Charles City County; a goddaughter, Tracie Holland of Suffolk; three devoted friends, Mrs. Jackie Langston, Mrs. Shirley Hicks and Mrs. Evonne McKelvin; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon Friday, Sept. 2, 2005 at Piney Grove Baptist Church by Pastor Larry J. Parker. Interment will be held in Holly Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 5620 Indian Trail Road. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
