Mary Elizabeth Duke Carter, 87, died Aug. 29, 2005 at Sentara Nursing Center in Portsmouth. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 1 in Holland Cemetery in Suffolk. Harrell and Hill Funeral Home is serving the family.
