Cutchins switch in 8-0 Lakeland victory

As far as the Cutchins family’s involvement in Lakeland field hockey games usually goes, it’s Lindsay scoring goals and her older sister Kelsey stopping them. But on Wednesday, things changed for the girls.

After the Lady Cavaliers, on the strength of a Stephanie Owen hat trick, roared to a 6-0 halftime lead, Kelsey got her shot in the field. Brittany Vick, expected to take over the goal after Kelsey graduates in June, put on the pads.

After Nicole Klee sent her third assist of the game to Erica Rimasse, she went back to play goal for a while. Then Lindsay, who’d scored two goals during the first half, got her shot at stopping shots. With her sister watching for the first time, Kelsey knocked in the team’s final goal of an 8-0 win.

Sara Mazzone and Lyndsey Daughtrey also scored for the Lady Cavaliers, who will visit Kempsville today.

Mary Rose had King’s Fork’s only goal in a 3-1 loss to Western Branch.
