Editor, the News-Herald:

I’m calling on all citizens of Suffolk on behalf of a fellow Suffolkian, my sister and family, in Louisiana.

Their church has opened their doors to people who have lost everything and are in need of shelter and food. Their church is small, but they took in more than 30 people Tuesday and the number had doubled by Wednesday.

My niece and nephew are helping with all their heart, building makeshift showers, cooking and trying to make these people as comfortable as possible.

Like I said the church is small but their hearts are big. They know the church can’t do this forever, but with our help, maybe they can hold out just a little longer. If you would like to help, please send a check directly to&uot;
