Suffolk business owner Wanda Moss wants to do her part to help Hurricane Katrina victims in her native state rebuild their

lives.

&uot;I knew I couldn’t pack up and go down there,&uot; said Moss, who was born in Louisiana. &uot;But I wanted to so something to help these people.&uot;

So Moss and her husband, Donald Moss, have decided to open the doors of their business, The Lion and Lioness Salon and Day Spa, 700 W. Washington St., for contributions.

In coming weeks, the couple will be accepting donations of all sorts for Hurricane Katrina survivors:

clothing, blankets, and non-perishable food items.

They are collecting monetary donations for the American Red Cross’s fund drive.

Also, the Mosses are contributing 20 percent of the purchase price of all gift certificates bought between Sept. 6 and 17 to the American Red Cross for survivors of Katrina, Moss said.

People can drop their donations off during regular business hours: 9 a.m.

to 8 p.m. Tuesday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday; 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. Thursday; 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday; and 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday.

The Mosses will collect the donations, then route them to another organization or company to deliver to the hurricane-ravaged areas.
