Annie Mae Sweat, 79, of the 300 block of Brook Avenue, entered into eternal rest on Sept. 15, 2005, in Tandem Health Care of Windsor. She was a native of North Carolina and daughter of the late Joe Cephus King and Ina Lee Holloman. She was preceded in death by her husband, Matthew L. Sweat, and a son, Leondrus Sweat.

She was a retired domestic worker for Mr. and Mrs. Larry Ruden after 15 years of service. She was a member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and a member of the Mass Choir, Missionary Circle and Widows Club.

She is the survived by two daughters, Geraldine Sweat White (Ledell) and Patricia Sweat Knight (Harvey) of Suffolk; three sons, Dennis Sweat (Diann) of Maryland, Charles Sweat Sr. (Vanessa) of Hampton and Lynn Ellis Sweat of Suffolk; two sisters, Bessie King of Washington D.C., and Emma Grasty of Suffolk; a brother, Joe E. King of Washington D.C.; a daughter-in-law, Janet Sweat of Washington, D.C.; 13 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and other relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be held at noon Wednesday, Sept. 21, 2005, in Oak Grove Baptist Church by the Rev. Dr. Anthony Copeland. Interment will be in the church cemetery. The body will be taken to the church at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday. The family will be at 807 Seminole Drive. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements.
