Diners in northern Suffolk soon will have another choice on their menu of restaurants.

The city’s second Applebee’s Neighborhood Grill and Bar is opening at 103 Lake View Parkway, in the Harbour View community, at 11 a.m. Oct. 24.

More than 100 full- and part-time employees are being hired to work in the 4,300-square-foot restaurant.

The Kansas-based company is looking forward to opening another site in Suffolk, said Stacey Elro, a company spokeswoman.

&uot;We always try to locate in growing communities,&uot; she said. &uot;We saw a need for a casual dining restaurant in that area.&uot;

Applebee’s is having an invitation-only party for city officials, Suffolk City Council members and other community leaders on Oct. 22, Elro said. Although dinner will be free, the restaurant is asking guests to make a donation that will be divided between the Suffolk Center for Cultural Arts and Big Brothers/Big Sisters of Hampton Roads.

&uot;We really try to embrace the neighborhoods where we open restaurants,&uot; said Elro. &uot;All of our restaurants get involved with local organizations in communities where they are located.&uot;
