Wilroy Copeland

Wilroy Copeland, 99, of the 1300 block of White Marsh Road, died Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2005 in Bon Secours Maryview Medical Center in Portsmouth. He was a native of Nansemond County and the son of the late William Thomas Copeland and Vergie Mary Edwards Copeland. His devoted wife, Annie Mae Gary Copeland, also preceded him in death.
He was retired from Suffolk Floral Gardens and was a farmer of flowers. He was formerly a member of Little Mt. Zion Baptist Church.
He is survived by four daughters and their spouses, Bettie Vick and William of Suffolk, Ruth Cutno and Ernest, Elsie Harden and Henry of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Faye Casper and Evander of New York, N.Y.; two sons and their spouses, Bishop Madison Copeland and Pauline of Suffolk and Filmore Copeland and Annie Mae of New York, N.Y.; one brother and his wife, Woodrow Copeland and Doris of Suffolk; 14 grandchildren, 29 great-grandchildren, three great-great-grandchildren, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The funeral service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Oct. 3, 2005 in Greater Sweet Beulah Holiness Church by Bishop Madison Copeland and Elder Billy Potts. Interment will be Tuesday in Carver Memorial Cemetery. The body will be taken to the church at 5:30 p.m. Monday. Crocker Funeral Home is handling arrangements. The family will receive friends at the home of Bishop Madison Copeland, 1337 White Marsh Road.
