8-0, 12-0 and 9-0 were the dominating runs the Lady Saints volleyball team put together, one in each game, to comfortably navigate a three-game sweep of Hampton Roads Academy Thursday night in Newport News, 25-11, 25-14, 25-7.

Trailing 2-0 in the opening game, the Lady Saints rolled off eight consecutive points, off Jade Bishop’s service to take command of game one.

During the rally, Kristen Nuckles assisted Michelle Boucher for three kills.

Bishop’s second ace of the game finished game point.

The Navigators started game two with a 3-0 advantage, but it was equally short-lived.

With a Boucher block earning a side out, Bishop was up to serve again.

This time the run was 12 straight NSA points before HRA ended Bishop’s rally.

HRA errors gave nine of the 12 points to the Lady Saints.

In the final game, the Lady Saints did not even allow the obligatory Navigator lead.

With Ellen Giermak serving to start the game, NSA raced out to a 9-0 lead; two Giermak aces and blocks from Nuckles and Boucher aided the run.

Nuckles finished the game with 18 assists.

Boucher and Minka Foster each recorded seven kills, to co-lead the Lady Saints in that category.

&uot;We played very well although tonight was against a team struggling a bit,&uot; head coach Shane Foster said. &uot;But we maintained our focus…we’re continuing to take strides forward.&uot;

The Lady Saints continued their winning ways ay Richmond Collegiate Friday, scoring a 25-14, 25-19, 25-16 victory. Bishop led the way with 12 kills, one more than Foster.

The NSA boys’ volleyball side had a marathon at home Thursday evening; fighting back from being down two-games-to-none versus Cape Henry before falling just short in the fifth game, 25-19, 26-24, 24-26, 17-25, 15-12.

The boys (2-4, 0-0) host Peninsula Catholic at 6 p.m. Tuesday. The girls return to TCIS play at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, hosting Cape Henry.
