Edith Mae Calvie

On Friday, Sept. 30, 2005, Edith Mae Calvie, 60, went to be with the Lord in Obici Memorial Hospital. She was a native of Suffolk and the widow of Elliott Calvie Jr. She was predeceased by a son, Elliott Calvie III and daughter, Anita Fae Calvie. She was the daughter of the late Charlie Harris and Carrie Harris Jones and the stepdaughter of Johnnie Jones. She was employed by Autumn Care for 23 years before retiring in 2003.

She was a member of Bethlehem Christian Church United and its Senior Choir.

She leaves to cherish her memories two sons, Dwayne A. Calvie (JoAnne) and Kenneth J. Calvie (Lena); a sister, Shirley A. Clark (Leon); two brothers, Frank C. Harris (Eloise) and John C. Harris (Mable); grandchildren Shavon M. Wilson, Tasha S. Reid, Demetrius M. Reid, Jonathan Beamon, Sharnise Calvie, and Kenneth Calvie; sisters-in-law Obelia Harris, Marie Barnes, and Patricia Calvie; two brothers-in-law, Charles Jackson of Suffolk and Robert L. Jackson of Baltimore, Md.; a devoted friend, Joseph Roberts; a very special friend, Edith Staton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

A funeral service will be held at noon Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2005 at Bethlehem Christian Church United, 312 Bute Street, by the Rev. Emanuel Myrick. Interment will be in Carver Memorial Cemetery.
