Jennie Mae Maxwell

Jennie Mae Maxwell, 83, died Oct. 6, 2005, at Obici Hospital. Born in Olcott, N.Y. in 1922, she was the daughter of Wallace Ellsworth and Sarah Eleanor Hanford.
She married John Duncan Maxwell June 15, 1946 at Newfane Methodist Church in Newfane, N.Y. She resided with her family in Newfane, where she was a homemaker and community volunteer. During this time, she was active in the Newfane Methodist Church, Cub Scouts, the Mom’s Club, and PTA activities.
She moved to Olcott in 1973 and was active in the Olcott Yacht Club and was a member and served as financial secretary of the Olcott Methodist church. After retiring to Palm Hill South Country Club in Largo Fla., she continued to be active in community affairs. She will be remembered for her love of others and devotion to her family and friends. She was a loving mother, grandmother and friend.
She is survived her loving and devoted children, the Rev. James W. Maxwell (Merry) and JuIie A. Irby (Everett); four wonderful grandchildren, Jonathan Maxwell, Amy Maxwell, Rhett and Zachary Irby. Also surviving is a sister, Eleanor McClew of Sun City Center, Fla. as well as her family and sister-in-law. Jean Stedman of the Presbyterian Home in Lockport, N,Y.
Family and friends are invited to a memorial service to be held at 2 p.m. Oct. 9 at the Portsmouth Center at Lake Prince at 100 Anna Goode Way.
In lieu of flowers the family requests that contributions be sent to the Lake Prince Woods Foundation, 100 Anna Goode Way, Suffolk, Va. or the Medina United Methodist Church, 222 West Center St., Medina. NY 14103.
