At the Peanut Fest Friday evening – just before the rain came – Mike Constant and his daughter were strolling around the grounds of the Suffolk Executive Airport when they noticed the Suffolk News-Herald booth.
A former subscriber, Constant realized that his subscription had run out.
Stepping closer to the booth, he saw that new subscribers had even more incentive to sign up for the six-day-a-week paper; they could win an iPod, used to hold hundreds of downloaded songs.
&uot;My daughter was joking that she wanted the iPod. I told her, ‘I’m going to win!’&uot;
On the job as a painter in Virginia Beach Tuesday afternoon, Constant found out he was right – his wife called to tell him that a News-Herald representative had called and said he’d won.
&uot;It’s always great to win,&uot; Constant said later Tuesday, picking up his prize. &uot;I just had a birthday Oct. 7, so this is a great birthday present
&uot;I love music, especially spiritual music and classic rock, like Led Zeppelin. I’ll just have to get my son to show me how to use the iPod.&uot;
