Herbert L. Williams Sr., 71, died Oct. 22, 2005 at the Washington, D. C. Veterans’ Hospital. Herbert was born in Southampton County. He was the son of the late Herman and Pearl Williams. He retired from Baltimore Electric and Gas Company as a mechanic and truck driver.
Survivors include his loving wife, Mary Williams of Baltimore, Md.; four daughters, Linda Eason of Norfolk, Shirley Skinner (Elton) of Suffolk, Deborah Wilson and Mary Williams (Stephen) of Baltimore, MD; five sons, Alvin Williams (Deborah) of Portsmouth, Herbert Williams (Brenda) and Calvin Williams of Suffolk, Melvin Williams (Cynthia) of Newport News and Kevin Thomas of Baltimore; four sisters Evelyn Mayfield and Angela Cross of Franklin, Doris Williams of Opa Lotka, Fla., and Pearlie Bynum (Jessie) of Chesapeake; two brothers Melvin Williams of
Franklin and Herman Williams of Colorado Springs, Col. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Willie Williams and Raymond Williams and one sister, Jean Alice Bynum. Other survivors include 21 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts, uncles and friends.
A funeral will be conducted at noon Oct. 29 at Vaughan C. Greene Funeral Chapel in Baltimore. Burial will be Oct. 31 at Garris Forest National Cemetery in Baltimore.
