-For the second consecutive year, Lakeland’s Kelsey Cutchins, this season’s Southeastern District Player of the Year, was named the Eastern Region’s top goalkeeper, it was announced Friday. Stephanie Owen, who made the Second team last year, got on the First defense team.

Lindsey Cutchins made the Second All-Region team, as did Melissa Dunn. Nicole Klee and Nansemond River’s Katelyn Yandle got Honorable Mention.

-Nancy Richey, who helped her Nansemond River team to the Southeastern District tournament for the first time of the millennium this season, was named the District co-coach of the year with Chris Lessick of Great Bridge, it was announced Friday. It’s Richey’s second such honor in three years.

River’s April Hines represented the Lady Warriors on the First All-District team, and Sarah McDonald made the Second team, as did Lakeland’s Amy Barnes.

In boys competition, River’s Jason Taylor and Brian Briesemeister were named to the First All-District team.
