Holland, Harrell united in marriage

Glenn Harrell Jr., father of Tyller Glenn Harrell, and Shontala Yavon Holland, mother of Shelia Lolethia and John Rafael Blount, were married in Nassau, Bahamas on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2005. The wedding talk was given by the bride’s father, Lloyd G. Holland Sr. of Suffolk. The wedding vows were administered by a Bahamian official, the Honorable Warren Anderson.

The bride is the daughter of Lloyd Sr. and Ruby Holland of Suffolk. She is the paternal granddaughter of the late Fred and Sarah Lee Holland. She is the maternal granddaughter of Jessie “Budd Lawrence” and Rosa Mae “Ella Mae” Warren of Suffolk. She is the great-granddaughter of Rosa Mae Artis of Suffolk and the late Rosella “Sis Lawrence” Goodman.

The groom is the son of Glenn Sr. and Mary Louise Harrell of Norfolk. He is the paternal grandson of the late Guy and Dorothy Harrell and the maternal grandson of the late Curtis and Shirley Thomas.

Others in attendance were Ruby L. Holland, mother of the bridge and videographer for the wedding; Sidney A. Holland, best man and brother of the bride; Solomon “Wesley” Darden, “man of honor” and best friend of the bride; Typhni M. Darden, maid of honor; Tonya L. Darden-McCoy, matron of honor; Jessie “Budd Lawrence” Warren Jr., grandfather of the bride; Freddie Holland-Turner, aunt of the bride; Veronica “Conjo” Wiggins, cousin of the bride; Damenique Belle, fianc\u00E9 of the best man; Charlie J. Wiggins Jr., cousin of the bride; and Corinthian “Fre-Joseph” Wiggins, cousin of the bride.

The newlyweds would like to thank everyone for all of their support and a very “special” thanks goes out to Mr. and Mrs. Solomon and Jean Darden of Suffolk for their many years of loving kindness. We will always love and appreciate all that you have done, are doing and will do in the future.

After the wedding and honeymoon in the Bahamas, the newlyweds returned to Suffolk for their reception at the Smithfield Center at 5 p.m. Oct. 30, 2005.

The groom is employed as a major retail store manager in the Hampton Roads area. The bride is a special education teacher for Alternative Behavior Services in Portsmouth. The newlyweds will reside in Suffolk.
