Civic League Meeting

The West End Civic League will meet at 7:30 p.m. at Oxford United Methodist Church (use the South Broad Street entrance).

David Freeman, director of Neighborhood Development Services, will speak. A representative from the Suffolk Police Department has also been invited to attend and speak. The meeting is open to the public, and residents are encouraged to attend and find out what is happening in their neighborhood. Call 934-1648 or 377-8816.

The Suffolk City Wide Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Celebration Committee is sponsoring a program to commemorate the life and legacy of Dr. King.

The program will be held at Lakeland High School.

Keynote speaker will be Dr. Kim Brown of Mount Lebanon Baptist Church in Chesapeake.

The program will begin at 11 a.m.

The public is invited to attend.

The Suffolk Chapter of the AARP will hold a meeting at 10:30 a.m. at Open Door Church, 216 King’s Fork Road.
