Kevin W. Phillips (Bay) was called home suddenly on Thursday March 30, 2006 at Obici Hospital.

Kevin was born on August 10, 1970 and was a lifelong resident of Suffolk. He was employed for a while with E.S.S. Ice, Inc., of Chesapeake.

He attended Southwestern High School.

Kevin is preceded in death by his brother Shawn Porter, maternal grandparents Mary E. Porter and Calvin C. Porter, paternal grandparents Jessie Phillips and Eva T. Phillps, and his devoted Godparents Roy Higgs Sr., and Henrietta Higgs.

Kevin is survived by his wife Mary G. Phillips, step-daughters Christine and Brittany Hale; mother Regina Porter Hawkins (Steve); father Charles Phillips (Carolyn); mother-in-law Clara Hale (Theodore); sisters Nicole Porter, Stephanie Porter, Crystal P. Melton (Shawn), Cherri D. Phillips and Charmaine D. Phillips; brothers-in-law Felton Hale (Alicia), Richard Hale, all of Suffolk, Junious Hale (Jawania) of Franklin; sister-in-law Annette Hale, of Chesapeake; grandmother Naomi Biggs; great-grandfather Thomas Pope (Idell); uncles, aunts, nieces, nephews and a host of other loving relatives.

A Funeral of Triumph will be held Tuesday, April 4, 2006, at 1 p.m. at Gates of Heaven, COGIC, Suffolk, 112 Beech St. The body will be placed in the church at noon. Suffolk Elder Samuel Cherry Jr. will officiate. Elder Sylverster Silvers is the pastor.

Visitation will be held Sunday from 4-7 p.m. and on Monday from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.. A wake will be held from 6-7 p.m. Monday at the Harris Funeral Home.

Burial will be at Carver Cemetery immediately following the service.

The family will receive friends at the homes of the father, Charles and Carolyn Phillips, 1982 Hosier Road, Suffok, and the residence at 1306 Building N, Forest Oak Lane, Suffolk Station Apartments. The family will assemble at 1306 Building N, Forest Oak Lane, Suffolk Station Apartments on Tuesday at noon for the funeral procession.
