William Boyd, 95, of the 200 block of Wellons St., entered into eternal rest and peace on April 13, 2006 in Sentara Obici Memorial Hospital. He was a native of Suffolk, Va. He was a son of the late John and Mary Lou Smith Boyd. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Gene (Patsy) Scott and a son William (Butch) Staton, two brothers Rufus and Elmore Boyd.

He was retired from the Mortrench Corp. after a many years of service. He was also a mechanic fixing plumbing, electrical, and oil heaters. In his earlier years he was a cab driver for his fathers business.

He is survived by a son Jackie R. Staton of Portsmouth and a daughter Lynn Manley of the home, two step-daughters Martha Harrison and Anne Staton both of Suffolk, 6 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, April 18,2006 in Crocker Funeral Home by Bishop Madison G. Copeland. Interment will be at Carver Memorial. The family will be the home of Lynn Manley at 210 Wellons St.
