Ellie V. Stokes, a native of Williamston, N.C., died April 5, 2006, while at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center . She was the daughter of the late William and Nancy Stokes. Ellie, affectionately known as Ella, resided in Suffolk, where she attended East Suffolk High School. In 1948 she moved to Patterson, N.J. She was employed as a home health aide in Hackensack, N.J.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Rev. Earnest Stokes Sr., a daughter, Vicky Moore, sister, Willie Mae Whitley, and brothers, Clarence Odell and William T. Stokes Jr.

A funeral service was held on Monday, April 10, 2006 in Grace Chapel Baptist Church, 26 Haledon Ave., Paterson, N.J., Rev. Gregory L. Wilson officiating. Interment was in Fair Lawn Cemetery, Fairlawn, N.J.
