Delma M. Eley Sr., 72, of the 900 block of Hosier Rd., died April 17, 2006 in Coliseum Park Nursing Home, Hampton. He was a native of Nansemond County and son of the late Peter Donnie and Velma Gatling Eley.

He retired from R. W. Askew Nursery in 1998 after more than 45 years service.

He is survived by his former wife, Louise Eley; 4 daughters, Sally Williams of District Heights, Md., Marilyn Miller (Lavin Miller) of Charleston, S.C., Deborah Robertson (Harry Robertson) of Hampton, and Patricia Shearin of Suffolk; 2

sons, Delma M. Eley Jr. (Sharon Eley) of Brooklyn, N.Y., and James P. Eley (Francine Eley) of Portsmouth; 6 sisters, Elois Peele (Lorenzo Peele), Clarine Holland, Hilda Newsome, Anne Johnson, Gladys Eley, and Norris Mae Copeland (Horace Copeland Jr.); three brothers, Leo Eley (Emily Eley), Frank Eley, and Jobie Eley; grandchildren, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, April 21, in Crocker Funeral Home by Minister Jacqueline McGriff. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at 259 Pine St., and 649 Second Ave. Online condolences may be offered at www.crockerfuneralhome.com
