Lottie Lassiter Goodman, 88, of Suffolk, died Sept. 11.
She was a native of Gates County, N.C. She worked more than 40 years at the Leggett’s department store, and then went on to work as a greeter at Wal-Mart for 15 years.
She was predeceased by her parents, Elsie Benton and Milton R. Lassiter; her husband, Howard Gregory Goodman; and sister, Bessie Russ.
She was survived by her daughers and son-in-law, Margaret G. and Carson Whitley of Franklin; Peggy G. Cornett of Suffolk; and Florence G. Anderson and Emmett Davis, both of Portsmouth.
She was also survived by her son and daughter-in-law, Billy and Cindy Goodman of Zuni, and her brother and sister-in-law, Waymore and Nellie Lee Lassiter of Sunbury, N.C.
She was survived by her grandchildren Sandra W. Hawkins (Bruce), Susan W. Keeter (Keith), Kim Wimbrought (Robbie), David Drewry, Jimmy Anderson (Sarah), and Ashley Goodman.
She is also survived by her great-grandchildren Brian Vaughan, Josh Hawkins, Brandon Keeter, Chad Keeter, Amber-Leigh Wimbrough, Kelsie-Lynn Wimbrought, Rip Wimbrough and Jordyn Anderson. She also survived numerous cousins, nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held today, Sept. 14, at 2 p.m. at Parr Funeral Home with Dr. Richard L. Peerey officiating. Interment will be at Holly Lawn Cemetery. Friends joined the family Wednesday night from 7-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. They may also join the family at other times at the residence of Peggy Cornett, 310 Shore Drive, Suffolk.
