M’boro Police seek masked gunman

MURFREESBORO – Police in Murfreesboro are still looking for the suspect involved in a Monday afternoon downtown robbery.

Murfreesboro Police Chief Darryl Rowe said Jenkins-Brown Insurance Agency of 212 E. Main Street was robbed at gunpoint yesterday.

Rowe confirmed the suspect entered the Murfreesboro business at approximately 2:35 p.m. brandishing a firearm and demanded cash.

&uot;The owner of the business did the right thing by complying with the assailant’s request,&uot; Rowe said. &uot;The suspect left the building with an undisclosed amount of cash.&uot;

According to Rowe, the suspect exited the building headed south on Union Street.

At press time, the Murfreesboro Police were still searching for the gunmen and interviewing witnesses.

Eyewitness accounts said the gunman was a black male approximately 5′-11&uot; in height and was wearing a white t-shirt, black jeans and sporting a black ‘doo-rag’.

Rowe said his department is seeking any and all leads to help in the apprehension of the suspect.

&uot;Any help from the community in identifying this individual would be appreciated,&uot; Rowe said. &uot;If you saw anything, no matter how small you think it is, give us a call.&uot;

Rowe was relieved the situation did not turn violent.

&uot;Luckily nobody was injured in the robbery,&uot; Rowe said. &uot;The owner was fortunate that things did not turn for the worse.&uot;
