Doris M. Parker Deir, 78, of Hickory Neck Lane, wonderful wife, Mom and Granny, passed away Monday, Nov. 13. She was born on Feb. 8, 1928 in Gates County, N.C. She was the daughter of the late Robert Vernon and Annie Hayes Parker.

Doris had retired from Lipton Tea with more than 20 years of service.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Lloyd E. Deir Sr., of Suffolk; daughter Lorraine D. Evans and husband Joe P., of Pulaski; sons Ed Deir and wife Francine, of Norfolk, and David Deir, of Suffolk; 11 grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.

A funeral service will be held on Friday, Nov. 17, at 2 p.m. in the Sidney F. Harrell Chapel of Harrell & Hill Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Meadowbrook Memorial Gardens.

Friends may join the family on Thursday, Nov. 16, from 7-8 p.m. at Harrell & Hill Funeral Home.
