Frank Wilson Womack Jr., 79, died Sunday Nov. 19 at Lake Prince Woods. He was born on June 29, 1927 in Norfolk, to the late Frank Wilson and Ella May Price Womack. He was preceded in death by his sister Betsy Hines.
He lived and worked in Suffolk with the highway department and health department and later with the U.S. Postal Service. He live in Columbia, S.C., Tampa, Fla., Montera, Calif., Greensboro, N.C., and on High Rock Lake, N.C., prior to his retirement in 1989 as district manager of Postal Real Estate in Greensboro.
Mr. Womack had served as deacon, trustee and elder of the Suffolk Presbyterian Church; was an officer in the Nansemond River Power Squadron, and was a member of the Portsmouth Commandry, Masonic Lodge No. 77, Mt. Nebo Royal Arch Chapter No. 20 and a Shriner in the Jamil Temple, Columbia.
He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Owens; one daughter, Susan Womack Powell and husband, Lynn of Franklin; one son, David Price Womack of Raleigh, N.C.; and two grandchildren, Meredith Price Powell and Griffin Eley Powell of Franklin.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk, by the Rev. Michael D. Halley.
The family will visit with family and friends following the service at Lake Prince Woods.
