Late Saturday afternoon, God dispatched His loving angels and called home our beloved William Earl White Sr. from labor to reward. Earl was born on June 23, 1946 in Suffolk. He was predeceased in death by his parents, Rev. Hersey and Georgiana Golder White. He attended Suffolk Public Schools and was a veteran of the U.S. Army.
He was a former member of Oak Grove Baptist Church and he was in attendance of St. James COGIC in Chesapeake.
He is survived by his wife Phyllis Pittman White, son William E. White Jr. and daughter Shandra E. White of the home; two sisters, Shelia M. White, of Portsmouth and Shirley A. White, of Suffolk; two brothers, Hersey McCoy White (Susan) of Kentucky and Alphonso O’Neil White (Marcia) of New York; two sisters-in-law, Edna M. Pittman, of Suffolk and Vanessa Pittman, of Portsmouth; one brother-in-law, David L. Pittman (Bertha), of Portsmouth; godson, Ernest White; special and devoted friends, Linda and Christopher Knight; and many other relatives, cousins and friends.
Viewing will be held on Thursday, Nov. 30 from noon-6 p.m. and Friday, Dec. 1 from noon-6 p.m. The wake service will be held from 6-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
All other times family will be receiving family and friends at 1108 Sir Gawaine Dr., Chesapeake.
Service will be held on Saturday, Dec. 2 at 1 p.m. at St. James C.O.G.I.C. by Elder Theodore Cutler Sr. at 1621 Chestnut St., Portsmouth.
Interment will be at Carver Memorial Cemetery.
