On Sunday, Dec. 3, David Johnson answered the call of Almighty God and entered the land of Eternal Joy. Life began for him on April 27, 1953, in Suffolk. He was the son of Rebecca Jordan Johnson and the late Miles Johnson Sr.

He was educated in the Suffolk school system and was formerly employed by HUD Trucking Company and worked at Portsmouth Naval Shipyard. He was a member of New Mt. Joy Food for Living Ministries and served on the usher board.

He was a great lover of fishing.

He leaves to cherish lasting and loving memories, his mother Rebecca Johnson, of Suffolk; five brothers, Robert L. Phillips Sr., of Chesapeake, Wilmer E. Phillips Jr., of Eastern Shore, Joseph Johnson, of Suffolk, Miles Johnson Jr., of Hampton and Wesley T. Johnson, of Suffolk; two sisters, Mary Carolyn Johnson and Ruth Johnson-Brickhouse, both of Suffolk; one aunt, Dorothy Eley, of Suffolk; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.

Viewing will be held on Thursday, Dec. 7, from noon-7 p.m. at the funeral home. Service will be on Friday, Dec. 8, at noon at New Mt. Joy Food for Living Ministries, 307 County St., Suffolk.

Interment will be at Albert G. Horton Jr., Memorial Veteran Cemetery with military honors.
