It was quite a thrill to see 25 boys and girls come to the newspaper office Saturday to sit with Santa and participate in the Toys-for-Tots program.

In order to have their photo taken with the jolly elf, they had to either bring a new toy or make a monetary donation to the Cheer Fund. We received both.

While these little ones were smoozing with Santa, what they didn’t realize is they were learning a lesson — one that they will draw on in years to come.

They were learning what it feels like to help others.
