RICHMOND – Certain services provided by the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles, including applying for original or renewing driver’s licenses, will be unavailable Saturday.

Due to system maintenance by the Social Security Administration, Social Security Number verification—necessary for processing drivers’ license transactions—will not be available in DMV customer service centers on Saturday

Customers who need original or renewed driver’s licenses are encouraged to visit DMV next week. The state agency will be closed Monday for Columbus Day.

Customers who are unable to obtain a new or updated driver’s license Saturday will be given a letter that they can present between Oct. 14 and 18 for expedited service.
