Fiscal crisis calls for strong experience

This letter is to endorse Linda Johnson for Mayor of the City of Suffolk.
Our economy is probably in the worst shape it has been in since the Great Depression. The people of Suffolk need a mayor who understands how to save money and spend the money wisely.
Mayor Johnson has demonstrated her commonsense approach to finances since she was selected as mayor in 2006. Under her leadership, the city has greatly improved its financial position and is running more efficiently than ever. Her strong advocacy of economic development and creation of jobs for our citizens will help us through these tough times.
Her leadership has been recognized by other leaders in the community, as she has been endorsed by all of our constitutional officers, a majority of the School Board members and at least three other members of the current City Council, as well as several members of the Economic Development Authority and of the Planning Commission.
There is no other candidate in the mayor’s race who has the experience and leadership qualities that we so desperately need now. Please vote for Linda Johnson on Nov. 4.
